Right Thinking About Healing

1 Corinthians 2:16
Proverbs 23:7
Romans 12:1-2
Right thinking produces right believing which produces right speaking and acting. Everything begins with a thought. Repentance is to change your thinking that causes you to act. We are going to look at right thinking about healing. Healing is a settled fact established by Jesus’ finished work at Calvary. Jesus gave two reasons for the Word of God not being fulfilled in people’s lives. The first is unbelief and the second is the traditions of men.
Mark 6:1-6
Verse 1 And he went out from there, and came into his own country; and his disciples followed him.
Verse 2 And when the sabbath day was come, he began to teach in the synagogue: and many hearing him were astonished, saying, From where has this man these things? And what wisdom is this that is given unto him, that even such mighty works are wrought by his hands?
Verse 3 Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and Juda. and Simon? Are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him.
Verse 4 But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honor, but in his own country, and among his own kin, and in his house.
Verse 5 And he could there do no mighty work, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them.
Verse 6 And he marveled because of their unbelief. And he went round about the villages, teaching.
Luke 4:16-30 gives us the whole picture of the entire incident at Nazareth.
Verse 16 And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up for to read.
Verse 17 And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written,
Verse 18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised.
Verse 19 To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.
Verse 20 And he closed the book, and gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him.
Verse 21 And he began to say unto them, this day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.
Verse 22 And all bare him witness, and wondered at the gracious words which proceeded out of his mouth. And they said, is not this Joseph’s son?
Verse 23 And he said unto them, you will surely say unto me this proverb, physician, heal yourself: whatever we have heard done in Capernaum, do also here in your country.
Verse 24 And he said, verily I say unto you, no prophet is accepted in his own country
Verse 25 But I tell you the truth, many widows were in Israel in the days of Elias, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, when great famine was throughout all the land.
Verse 26 But unto none of them was Elias sent, save unto Sarepta, a city of Sidon, unto a woman that was a widow.
Verse 27 And many lepers were at the time of Eliseus the prophet; and none of them was cleansed, saving Naaman the Syrian.
Verse 28 And all they in the synagogue, when they heard these things, were filled with wrath,
Verse 29 And rose up, and thrust him out of the city, and led him unto the brow of the hill whereon their city was built, that they might cast him down headlong.
Verse 30 But he passing through the midst of them went his way.
There are foundational principles or matters of preference from the scriptures that you must have established in order to have right thinking about healing.

1) It is always God’s will to heal everyone without exception.
A) Three places to validate the perfect will of God:
1) The Garden of Eden before the fall.
2) The Life and Ministry of Jesus
3) Heaven
B) Exodus 15:26 “I am the God that heals you.” Isaiah 53:4-5: the atonement.
Acts 10:38 – Jesus healed them all. Twenty three times it is stated that Jesus healed them all or every one.
2) Nothing can stop the power of God. Nothing can stop the power of God in you
or through you; not sin, not doubt, not unbelief, not the traditions of men, no
person and no devil. Why? Because it didn’t stop Jesus. All the people that
Jesus healed were not new creation people.
A) Three Main Reasons that Jesus came:
1) To show us the Father
2) To show us how a man anointed of the Holy Spirit should live and walk this earth.
3) To get to the cross.
3) Anything that stands between God’s promises to heal or anyone not obtaining
those promises is not God. Anything that says God can’t or won’t is not God.
In other words, we don’t need a special anointing or leading,
A) The Jesus’ anointing is the born-again experience and the baptism in the Holy Spirit. That is the only anointing mentioned in the New Testament for a believer.
B) How easy is it to heal the sick? Jesus lives in me. I put my hands on them, and they get healed.
4) Jesus is our role model and standard for life and ministry.
A) Jesus did not try to find the root cause of any illness or the sin that opened
the door. Ex: Mark 10:46 – Blind Bartimeus – “What do you want me to do
for you?”
B) The devil is a trespasser and never has a legal right to put anything on
anyone. He has to inject a thought first, which tells me that not all or even most sickness is the direct attack of a demon.
1) Matthew 28:18
2) Luke 10:19
3) 1 Corinthians 6:19-20
4) Psalm 103 w/Acts 10:38
C) A word about methods. Christians can get caught up with methods, and Jesus used many different ways to heal the sick. I have found and taught 15 different ways to heal the sick or release the life and power of God.
D) Jesus – John 5:21, ”For as the Father raises up the dead and quickens them, even so the Son quickens whom he will.”
E) John 5:19, ”Verily, verily, I say unto you, the Son can do nothing of himself, but what he sees the Father do, for what things he does, the Son does likewise. “ Jesus relied totally on the Father or person of the Holy Spirit to do the works. John 14:10, ”…. the Father in me, he does the works.”
F) John 5:30, ”I can of myself do nothing.” When I stopped trying to heal the sick or got out of myself and my own efforts, I saw Jesus heal the sick.
G) It is not the method or what I say or do, but it is faith - faith in Him to do the work that heals the sick - and Jesus never fails.

5) God will heal through any believer because it is about God’s love for us and His goodness. Get your eyes on Him! It is all by His grace!

Acts 3:1-10,16
Verse 1 Now Peter and John went up together into the temple at the hour of prayer, being the ninth hour.
Verse 2 And a certain man lame from his mother’s womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms of them that entered into the temple;
Verse 3 Who seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple, asked an alms.
Verse 4 And Peter, fastening his eyes upon him with John, said, look on us.
Verse 5 And he gave heed unto them, expecting to receive something of them.
Verse 6 Then Peter said, silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.
Verse 7 And he took him by the right-hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength.
Verse 8 And he leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God.
Verse 9 And all the people saw him walking and praising God:
Verse 10 And they knew that it was he which sat for alms at the Beautiful gate of the temple: and they were filled with wonder and amazement at that which had happened unto him.
Verse 16 And his name through faith in his name has made this man strong, whom you see and know: yes, the faith which is by him has given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.

The Word of God is our final authority. Our experiences must be judged by scripture, not scripture by our experiences. Father God has stated as a fact His will concerning healing for all. Jesus paid for it and settled it. 1 Peter 2:24. It is not God picking and choosing whom to heal, and whom not to heal. The sovereignty of God teaching is rendering the Church of Jesus Christ powerless. It says that everything that happens is God, and we have no choice or say in the matter. It is the church exercising dominion and power that gets the job done.

How to Heal the Sick

1) If you have opportunity, lay hands on the sick. Jesus commissioned every believer to do this. It is not essential, but the best way to transmit the power is to lay hands on the sick.
2) Whatever you don’t want to be there - the sickness, pain, or symptoms - tell it to go. Exercise dominion.
3) Decree the end results and be persistent.
