Matthew 11:28-30 "Come unto me all you that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and you shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” God’s rest is where you cease from your own works, where the Holy Spirit begins to work in you; where you know that you are not your own, but absolutely possessed by God. The word “rest” means relief and ease and refreshment. It means recreation and blessed quiet. Jesus said my yoke is easy.
Colossians 1:15-16”He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers, all things were created through him and for him.” The word “image” is the word “eikon” in the Greek and it means likeness, outward and bodily image. It is the exact revelation and representation. The word “firstborn” is the word “protokos” meaning the firstborn of all creation.
1John 5:1,4-5” Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God. Whoever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that overcomes the world, even our faith. Who is he that overcomes the world, but he that believes that Jesus is the Son of God.” Romans 8:37”Yet in all these things (persecution, tribulation, famine, nakedness, peril, sword) we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.” The potential and possession of every believer is the fullness of Christ.
Do we have a covenant with Almighty God or a testament? What is the difference, and does it matter? I believe that it is the difference between freedom and bondage. The focus of each is entirely different. One is effort. The other is rest. Hebrews 8:6”But now has he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant established upon better promises.” A “mediator” is the middle person that sees to it that the contract between parties stays fulfilled. 1John 2:1-2”My little children, these things I write unto you, that you sin not.
Ephesians 3: 16-19”That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; that Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breath, and length, and depth, and height; and to know the love of Christ, which passes knowledge, that you might be filled with all the fullness of God.” John 7:37-39 speaks of rivers of living water out of our innermost beings. Father God wants to flood and fill our innermost being with Himself.
God is love. He lives in us. Love lives in us. Romans 5:5”…the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts.” The reason for redemption and the motivating factor for creation, the cross, the new creation and all that Father God does is His love. Romans 8:1-4 tells us in verse 2 of the “law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus.” That is the Royal Law of Love.
Romans 5:17 ”For if by one man’s offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.” Revelation 1:6””And has made us kings and priests to His God and Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.” Pressure comes from the outside. Victory comes from the inside.
Philippians 1:6 ”Being confident of this very thing, that he who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ (second coming). That good work that God the Father has begun and will complete is developing us and putting us in fellowship and co-operation with others to advance His kingdom. Father God has a plan and a purpose for our life.
